6/27/2008 I have a bumper sticker on my truck. I bought it from some ROTC kids in front of Wal-Mart. They were proud, in their uniforms, ready to serve. The sticker reads, "Freedom is Not Free." Some complete, well meaning, moron left me a note on my windshield today. It read, "Friend, you're right -- freedom is not free; it costs such as sharing in the pain of the oil crisis. So why don't you buy a car that's not a gas hog!" While trying to ignore the obvious illiteracy of individual writing this note, two things come to my mind. Who said there was an oil crisis? Wasn't that Jimmy Carter, peanut farmer and Looney Toon of the 70's? There is plenty of oil, my dear dumb arse 'Friend.' But we have to drill it and refine it. Just like the Arabs. Duh?!? And 2) what the Fark has oil got to do with Freedom? Are you really that stupid? Or are you still in diapers, living at Mommy and Daddy's house. And perhaps you were busy napping or getting your diaper changed through the cold war. Ask your grandfather, he'll tell you. Because surely, you're own father is not man enough to have been able to explain these things to you. And for the dumbest, most ignorant of people in America with a right to vote (that excludes illegal immigrants), our Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines remain the world’s best ALL VOLUNTEER force in the world. But my little clone PCs just keep on a running...I'd like to see you do that with some Sun hardware -- never happen !!! 6/2/2008 Holly smokes, how long has it been since I posted here? Six months, or so, I think. And what has gone on since then? Plenty! First, it appears as though our little beer forum got hijacked by some bottom feeders with nothing else to do. I mean, they didn’t even do anything cool. They made the forum empty and redirect people to some porn site (huh, huh…huh, huh…spoken in a Beavis and Butthead accent). I only hope your computers were not impacted by virus, Trojans, bots, and the like. Anyway, let me move on to the really big news. We’re PREG-O-NANT !!! And when I say we’re PREG-O-NANT, I mean to say that we will be having our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd child on the same day – LORD WILLING. What can I say? My pal Drago told me when I got married, “Remember, only once a night.” Needless to say, I didn’t listen -- three times was good for me and three times the joy is on the way here! Is there a woo hoo in the crowd? To that end, may the bottom feeders suck swamp juice and may our very long-time friends live long and prosper. Please accept my sincerest apologies for any issues that impacted you as a result of the unauthorized forum modifications. The site has not been modified in a hundred, brazilian years, but it is still mine. And someday, I might just find the time to kindle the flame we started WAAAAAAY before it’s time, eh? I'll turn the cam back on when I find a spot for the food. 11/17/2007 I fixed the broken link to our Unscrewed television video today. Not sure how long that was broken. You get married, take 12 months off, and the place turns to chit!?! I'm playing with the idea of turning the beer cam back on tomorrow. Woo, hoo! 11/15/2007 Well, we moved the site from one coast to the other. In the process, I reallized that the forum was locked and no new members were allowed...just how dumb do you think I feel? Once again, the CBS broadcast network has proven themselves not worthy of hosting a little girl’s tea party. Did you catch the country music awards on Tuesday? No, it wasn’t broadcast in High Definition. No, I don’t think it was broadcast in any kind of high fidelity audio. In fact, each performer sounded like they were singing into a paper bag. Was it just me? I don’t think so. I dread watching CBS NFL coverage. And they truly sucked at the awards show. It’s that kind of performance (or lack thereof) that leads companies to outsource… Yes, I think CBS should outsource themselves!?! May Something 2007 "My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. I'm busy being married ;-) I diagnosed a broken part in my oven and replaced it a week or two ago. Yep, feeling pretty manly about saving bank on a service call, or even worse, a new oven! My bride successfully grew seeds into plants -- so I turned over the soil in our garden for new planting. We painted a hutch, we hung a gazillion pound mirror (that equates to 1.37 gazillion kilograms), hung a wrought-iron cross over Mr. Zoey's spot in the back yard, hung another cross over My Girl Friday’s spot, fertilized front, back, and all planters, purchased and potted a new Fichus tree for the front porch (we froze for days and original fichus not happy), cleared a couple hundred square feet and planted 10x too many snap dragons in that place, and still managed to be my normal, charming, self at the day job. LOL, really. I can't wait to get started this month!?! We're going to purchase a new sofa and also paint the interior, yee haw! 2/16/2007 It looks like Bank of America has finally crossed the line and joined The Dark Side (evil). And those “legal American citizens” that bank with this institution need to take a stand. No, there is no need to close your account. Instead, do this: 1) apply for a Bank of America Visa Credit Card; 2) apply for the card using false documents; 3) charge until you reach your limit; 4) laugh your arse off and default on the account … why not … no legal recourse if they can’t find you and your false name! And then I was going to write about how useless my officemax.com extended warranty is ... never mind! Instead, I'll just go into the kitchen and kiss my lovely wife! 1/30/2007 I'm soooo lucky (yeah right). After thinking that my computer was compromised by a virus, I tried rebuilding my desktop. Yes, I agree with you, why on earth would I ever second guess the brain power and ultimate safety provided by the God Heads in charge at Symantec.com, right? Ah, but in their infinite wisdom, they decided that my "two year subscription" should be limited to a static number of installations. And of course, that makes perfect sense since my desktop has only been compromised a few times, with a 'few' issues, that required me to re-install my desktop operating system, including the ultimate security provided by Anti-virus software from Symantec, because I have 30 hours of personal time to burn each month – NOT. With that said, I can tell you this, after spending 30 minutes on hold with Symantec, and finally reaching a highly educated, highly compensated, man with only a ‘slight’ Indian accent, I feel much better. That pretty much settles it for me. AVG is the way to go. I recommend that everyone take a Kung Fu Fighting routine and migrate to AVG and save the bucks. After all, when your protection fails you, you won’t have to spend a gazilion minutes on hold to validate that your PRIVATE email address, PRIVATE order number, etc. wasn’t compromised somewhere on the web. In other words, BULL SCHMIDT occurred to me last night, and I won’t be spending a single dollar on Symantec products in the future … 1/29/07 My great-uncle survived the Nazi youth camps in Germany, escaped to America, got shipped back to Germany to fight as an American GI in WWII, came back to the US to marry and raise a family in California, to eventually retire in Idaho ... all to get struck down by a car while walking with his wife and dog. Dang ... kinda takes my spunk right this very second. We won't even go into the status of my Grandfather, learning to breathe through a tracheostomy tube ... and then there's my Dad's best friend's dad, who was put to rest a few days ago. Come back again, eventually, you may get surprised! -Dave 10/4/06 Wow, what a great time Shel and I have had together since after our wedding. We’ve spent time at Moonstone Beach, in Cambria, California. We’ve walked hand in hand along the paseos of our housing development. We also visited Sea World, San Diego, for an amazing day that included swimming (sort of) with Dolphins and dining inches beside “Shamu’s” (there’s more than one Shamu these days) private pool! The list goes on and on, but the best part is just having the time alone, without the pressures of wedding planning and such, to enjoy the intimacy resulting from exchanging vows before our friends, family, and God. 9/19/06 Drama ... way too much drama. Around ten o'clock last night, after a couple hours of cleaning cat boxes, washing dishes, and straightening the house, I realized that my wedding ring had left my finger -- without my knowledge! I managed to lose some weight in the last few weeks and my ring was very loose. As you can imagine, Shel and I were a wee bit upset. We looked high and low last night to no avail. But, this morning, after empting a HUGE trash barrel and sifting through lots of goo, guess what I found? Whew! Like I said, way too much drama. We're headed to the jeweler first thing this morning to have that baby re-sized!!! 9/15/06 Woo, hoo. In a little more than 24 hours, I'll be married to the most beautiful woman in the world! I must admit, I have plenty of flutterbies in my stomach, but that's natural, right? Hmm, come to think of it, this is my last blog post as a single man too! What a glorious day. We're finallizing our wedding plans. I did my best to prepare the day job for my time off -- you wouldn't believe how hard it is for a simple guy, with a modest paycheck, to take time off for a one-time, life-changing, event! Either they'll understand how important I am and reward me appropriately, or they will split up my duties and ship them off to India -- yeah, right! Nonetheless, we are finalizing the wedding plans, booked the honeymoon (I'm so excited), and just today we got our marriage license ... I almost forgot about that one! Wishing you the best that beer and life and love have to offer, Dave and Shel. 8/18/06 (12:07 AM) A man that I respect told me recently, "Your employer is paying you to trade a portion of your life in exchange for a paycheck," or something like that. And here I am, online with the day job while my bride-to-be is reading in our bed, waiting for me to finish ... and like anybody at the day job will ever know or even remember why I worked a 16 hour day today ... that, my friends, is a perfect example of insanity on my part. With that said, I'm going to log off the day job wire and snuggle up next to my girl ... something I did this morning ... and should have continued to do, much, much, earlier than I did today. 8/13/06 Life is good, when your best friend shares the same roof ... and church ... and other things! 8/2/06 All the guys told me life would change. And let me tell you/me that they were right! There is ‘female’ stuff in my shower, my clothes have been banished to the guest room, my work bench is cluttered with non-work bench stuff, and my truck is no longer in the garage! But every day when I get up, she has coffee waiting, a lunch is carefully packed, and warm hug and a kiss bids me farewell for a few hours … and each night, well, let’s just say I don’t get lonely with a lover and three, four-legged friends, making rounds on our king size bed. And when I get home from the day job, all the same four-legged friends get hooked into harnesses, and we join our only female roommate, in the back yard for a few cold ones, conversation, and laughter … and suddenly, what used to mater so much no longer maters at all. Yep, life is grand, with my best friend and new family … life is grand indeed! 7/26/06 Life has changed a bit here ... for the better I might add. At least it's better for me. As for this site, well, its days just might be numbered. Or, at the very least, site maintenance might move from a crawl to a stand still. My bride-to-be and I are busy making wedding plans (maybe small, maybe tiny) but plans nonetheless. As such, there is even less time for this site than there was before. However, I would do it all over again -- because my best friend and lover is now living under the same roof as me!!! All we are waiting on is the transport to show up with the furniture ... and then we plan the wedding!!! 6/17/06 Woo, hoo, I'm a daddy!!! My four legged boys just flew in from Canada. It's been a long day for them. Shel told them they were going to summer camp! And here they are, in California. I'm going to get Shel (Mommy) very soon! 6/15/06 I must applaud my bride to be. She is dealing with all three of the biggest stressors in life: 1) Moving; 2) Marriage; and 3) Job Change. Not to mention that she’s dealing with my obsessive/compulsive tendencies at the same time! With that said, I must proclaim publicly, for all to see, that I am very proud of my girl! And after all that we have been through so far, she still loves me! Am I lucky or what? Further, I (or we) have surely benefited from the blessings of God Himself. And for that, we are eternally grateful. 6/14/06 Wow, another 10 days since I last did this "blog thing." Well, I guess that's just the way it goes when you finally start to get (or at least build) a life. I finally find myself actually benefiting from the chaos of the latest re-org at the day job. Sometimes I think they do those re-org things just to keep the "under producing" people employed. Or then again, maybe it's just to keep the "over motivated" folks from steam rolling the previously mentioned group. LOL. Whatever the reason, it helps me to "sleep through" the day job tasks and focus on what's really important. Getting my girl from there to here. And believe you me, this process has challenged every fiber in my mind, body, and soul ... as well as the same components of my better half (she's the better half of most components of my life - love, laughter, family). With that said, the story continues. Next steps include making the big move from Canada to the United States. It will be nice to finally get all my ducks in the same pond (and under the same roof). I'll be back when I can come up for air again! 6/4/06 Yippee, hooray! Shel's LEGAL immigration papers were approved... She should be here in the United States shortly! As you can imagine, we are just a wee bit excited, eh?!?! Ooops, I'm still speaking Canadian, just got back to the states yesterday.
